Image of BAAF App on different devicesBAAF are delighted to present our adoption and fostering mobile phone app to help find adoptive and foster families for children who need them.

The app is the first of its kind and is aimed at members of the public who may be considering extending their family through adoption or fostering

You will be able to access a variety of useful information including 10 Steps to Adoption, specifics on who can foster and adopt, and real-life stories and videos from members of the adoption and fostering community, which will pull in live from BAAF’s social media channels.

The app has been formatted for iPad, iPhone and Android users and is available to download free. Find out more about the iPad and Phone app at the iTunes store. Details of the Android app are available from the Google Play Store.

Information and Advice

After loading the app you will be taken to the home section, from here you can click on any of the coloured tabs to be taken to a specific section of content. Users will also be able to find a wealth of information including 10 Steps to Adoption, specifics on who can foster and adopt, advice on available support and FAQs.

To quickly navigate through the app, use the bottom navigation bar if you are using an iPad or iPhone, or the top navigation bar for Android devices.

Find an Agency Search on iPadAgencies

Using the phone’s GPS, the app allows prospective adopters and foster carers to search for your nearest local authority, voluntary adoption agency, or independent foster care provider – using BAAF’s comprehensive directory to show the user where to go to get more information about adoption and fostering.

Click on the Agencies to filter your agency search by adoption, fostering or both. To search enter a town, postcode or the name of an agency into the search bar and then you will be presented with a list of agencies. To view the full contact details of a particular agency, click on the listing and you see another screen with the agency’s full address, email address and phone number.

If you are using the app on an iPad, locations of agencies are displayed on a map; you can use this map to locate agencies in any area, as well as by using the search.

If you are using an iPhone/Smartphone, you can call the agency directly from the app by clicking on the phone number. You can check the exact location of the agency by clicking on the ‘View map’ button which then shows where the agency is on either Google Maps or Apple Maps depending on your device and/or operating system.You can also click the ‘Near Me’ button on iPhone or Android devices to be presented with a list of agencies in your immediate location. The iPad version of the app also has a ‘My Location’ button in the bottom right-hand corner of the map which shows you on the map which agencies are nearest to you.

To refresh the agencies listings on your iPhone/iPad, hold and drag the screen down to refresh the listings, to refresh the listings on an Android device, click the refresh icon in the top right corner.

The BAAF blog features funny, frank and often moving first-hand accounts from those whose lives have been directly affected by adoption or fostering. 

To refresh the blog entries, hold and drag the screen down, if using the app on an Android device, click the refresh button in the top right corner to make sure you don’t miss the latest editions!  You can also email from within the app if you have a story you wish to share on the blog, you can do this by clicking the email (or your story) button in the top right corner of the blog section.


Click on the Connect tab and you’ll see a page of videos featuring real-life stories from members of the adoption and fostering community. This is also the place to share and interact with BAAF: you can visit the BAAF Website, send us an email, find out how to make a donation or connect to us through Facebook and Twitter.
