Adoption and Fostering panels deal with recommendations on individual cases, fulfil a quality assurance function, and are subject to scrutiny by Ofsted.
This workshop will enable those chairing these meetings to discuss common issues and dilemmas and to exchange best practice. An overview of current developments in adoption and fostering, including the impact of the Adoption Statutory Guidance July 2104 and Adoption National Minimum Standards 2014 will be the starting point for the day.
- To consider the legislation that underpins the work of adoption and fostering panels.
- To consider the tasks and responsibilities of adoption and fostering panel Chairs.
- To identify the relevant skills and knowledge needed in order to effectively chair adoption and fostering panel meetings.
- To increase awareness of how panel members personal values and histories impact upon the panel process”.
- To share good practice.
