Independent Panel Chair
We are looking to recruit an Independent Chair to this panel.
In order to fulfil this role, you must not have been employed in the last 12 months by any of the three local authorities who are coming together to form Aspire Adoption, namely Bournemouth Borough Council, Dorset County Council and the Borough of Poole. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experienced chairing skills. Aspire Adoption goes live in July 2017 and the Panel will operate from that date from the headquarters of Aspire Adoption at the Kinson Hub in Bournemouth.
The successful candidate will have:
- a sound understanding of the adoption process
- the authority and competence to chair a panel
- the ability to analyse and explain complex information
- the ability to identify key issues, problems and solutions
- excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
The role of the Panel is to make recommendations and give advice about the approval of prospective adoptive parents and the matching of children with prospective adopters. In some cases, where a child has been relinquished for adoption, the Aspire Adoption Panel will be asked to consider whether that should be the plan for that child.
The Aspire Adoption Panel will meet 2 or sometimes 3 times a month on Wednesday mornings. Most meetings are likely to continue into the early afternoon. There is a significant amount of reading time required in advance of the panel meeting.
All appointments are subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.
£400 will be paid per Panel to include reading and travelling time and expenses.
