• To promote and encourage the highest standards of practice in adoption, fostering and social work with children and families through support to social workers, health professionals and legal practitioners.
  • To promote public and professional understanding of adoption and fostering, and the resulting life-long implications for children separated from their birth families, including their needs for safety, security and a positive identity.
  • To act as an independent voice in the field of child care, to inform and influence policy makers and legislators, and all those responsible for the welfare of children and young people.
  • To be an umbrella body that provides overall co-ordination and a concerted voice for all member agencies and all those working with children.
