Learning from the law: legal masterclass for CoramBAAF corporate members!
A FREE LEGAL MASTERCLASS FOR CORAMBAAF CORPORATE MEMBERS ONLY. PLACES ARE LIMITED AND RESTRICTED ALLOCATED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS.
Cases that have been heard by the Court of Appeal and by the High Court (Family Division) provide valuable learning for social workers, managers, panel members and child welfare professionals working with children needing long-term care plans, including seeking court orders to secure permanency for the child.
There are few opportunities to hear about case law or to discuss the issues raised with colleagues and specialist lawyers. This event closes that gap.
This masterclass will cover a wide span of topics drawn from cases heard in 2018 and 2019 such as:
- The Family Justice Council’s proposals for reform
- Decision-making - special guardianship, long term fostering or adoption
- Relinquished babies, including children whose mother is from another country
- Section 20 accommodation and parents consent
- Completing quality assessments and managing the court's timetable
Speakers at the masterclass will be Alexandra Conroy Harris, CoramBAAF’s Legal Consultant, and Joan Hunt, an independent social worker and associate trainer for CoramBAAF.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND - FREE FOR CORAMBAAF CORPORATE MEMBERS
Social workers and their managers in fostering and adoption departments in local authorities, voluntary adoption agencies, regional adoption agencies, independent fostering providers in CoramBAAF membership as well as associate members.
The event will feature presentations and work in groups. There will be time to discuss the issues raised from the cases and for delegates to share and reflect upon their experiences of similar issues.
