Ellen Broomé appointed as new managing director of CoramBAAF
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Ellen Broomé as our new managing director. Ellen will start in her new role in February 2020, with interim managing director Kevin Lowe stepping down.
Ellen is currently the Director of Children and Families at NatCen, the UK’s leading social research organisation, and was previously chief executive at Coram Family and Childcare, where she worked for five years as it merged into Coram in 2018. She brings over 15 years of experience of strategic leadership, research, policy, advocacy and communications from previous roles including at the Children’s Society, the National Autistic Society and Parliament.
Dr Carol Homden, Coram CEO, said: “I am delighted to welcome Ellen to lead CoramBAAF which is the leading community of practice for agencies and professionals dedicated to improving outcomes for children UK-wide. Ellen will bring wide-ranging leadership skills and insight into what makes the biggest difference for children to build on the outstanding contribution of the retiring Managing Director, Kevin Lowe, and our dedicated team to support the next chapter in the development of children’s services.”
Ellen Broomé said: “Many children in care still do not get the support they need to thrive and fulfil their potential. With the huge challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought, CoramBAAF’s work with professionals, practitioners, foster carers and adopters is more vital than ever before.
“I am delighted at the opportunity to lead such an important organisation and want to build on its considerable achievements. CoramBAAF is a strong independent voice for the sector that plays a vital role securing the best futures for vulnerable children. I look forward to working with members to inform and influence policy makers and parliamentarians, and to make sure that children’s voices and experiences are at the heart of all of our work.”
