Moving to Adoption good practice guide to be published this Autumn
The University of East Anglia’s (UEA) Moving to Adoption model is a social work practice framework for supporting children’s moves from foster care to adoption. The model is underpinned by a framework for providing therapeutic caregiving. It aims to address concerns that when children move to an adoptive family, the children’s feelings of loss and separation can be overlooked. This is especially so when moves happen over a short time period and when contact with foster carers is abruptly cut off. The site above contains a wealth of resources available to the sector.
CoramBAAF’s Research Group recently held a webinar exploring how this project managed transitions during Covid-19 in light of social distancing measures. Members can watch and download the presentations here.
We will be publishing a good practice guide on the Moving to Adoption model this autumn, authored by the UEA team. Sign up to our publications email to be the first to hear about it!
