Lifelong Links is an innovative initiative developed by Family Rights Group that connects children in care and care leavers with individuals who care about them. Recent research conducted revealed a critical flaw in the care and child welfare system. When children enter care, many important relationships are disrupted. They may be separated from their siblings, moved to new schools, or relocated far from family and friends. Lifelong Links is dedicated to reversing this trend.

This open course will be an opportunity to explore personal and professional values and thresholds in respect of assessing connected persons, including tools to assist in assessing the child’s and the Connected Persons’ continued relationship with the birth parents and any possible risks posed to the child and carer and how these can be managed.

CoramBAAF has announced the publication of the new Adoption Support Plan (ASP) for England, developed with input from Adoption England, a 2024 pilot with five RAAs, and consultations with Adoption UK. The ASP is compliant with relevant laws and is designed for use at key stages of the adoption process, including during matching, placement reviews before the adoption order, and future post-order assessments. It should be used alongside the updated Adoption Placement Report (APR) England 2025.

This half day course is aimed at professionals who work with children and families who may benefit from a therapeutic intervention and would like to increase their understanding of different therapeutic approaches. Foster carers, kinship carers and adoptive parents who are considering different options for therapeutic support may also benefit from this training.

The National Leaving Care Benchmarking Forum (NLCBF) is a collaborative network of over 130 local authority leaving care teams, focused on improving services and support for care-experienced young people. Its central goal is to amplify the voices of these young people and ensure their input shapes the forum's decisions and priorities. The forum encourages local authorities to involve as many young people as possible in the Young People’s Benchmarking Forum (YPBMF) to help drive positive change and share best practices.
