Exploring cultural competence

This open course offers an introduction to the concept of Cultural Competence and what this means in the context of fostering, kinship and adoption work. This session explores the knowledge and understanding needed to complement a culturally competence approach and aims to increase practitioners' confidence in working with diversity and difference.
PRESENTER
Paul Adams, Associate Trainer, CoramBAAF
Paul Adams is an independent trainer and consultant who specialises in fostering and some aspects of adoption. He has nearly 30 years’ experience as social worker, including over a decade as Fostering Development Consultant with BAAF/CoramBAAF, where he wrote number of good practice guides and practice notes. Paul has experience as a child care and fostering manager, panel chair, panel advisor and decision-maker.
