CoramBAAF have published the updated Child Health Suite of assessment forms (2025). The aim of a health assessment is to provide a comprehensive picture of a child’s health needs, and to ensure these needs are met, including planning for the future and ultimately improving long term health outcomes. As children enter care, health assessments have a safeguarding function as they ensure health care is appropriate, timely and maintained.

The forms can be used by health and social care practitioners to support the process of completing the statutory health assessments for children in care. All local authorities in England are required to arrange health assessments for children in care, which is specified in Regulation 7 of the The Care Planning, Placement and Case Review (England) Regulations 2010.
