Cumbria Adoption is a hosted Service working across two authorities, Cumberland and Westmorland and Furness Councils.
Our Team
The Team is a County wide team that is responsible for the support of adopters from approval through matching and placement, the post adoption needs of children and families, and services for Adopted Adults. We are a friendly, experienced, and supportive team, with a strong emphasis on training and service development.
Who we are looking for
About the role
We are looking for someone who has at least 3 years post qualifying experience with strong knowledge of Adoption work. You will work as part of a team with a plan of adoption countywide and this post principally covering the whole of Cumbria. You will work closely with the Children's care planning teams and with the Adoption teams to ensure children with a plan of adoption can live in their permanent family at the earliest opportunity.
In this role, you will strive improve outcomes for Children and Young People in Cumbria by listening to the voice of the child, young person and their families and carers, understanding their needs and working together to agree how these needs will be met with the right help and support. We are looking for someone to work as a highly capable practitioner, assessing and delivering care and support, and using active listening and observation to build relationships.
The role involves dealing with children and families who request support post adoption, delivering training to adopters and group work for the children in adoptive families. It also supports adopters through the matching process and supports them through the adoption placement. The role also includes delivering an access to records and intermediary service for Adopted Adults As a key member of the team, you will also share skills and in-depth knowledge with other professionals and stakeholders, supporting and delivering the best outcomes.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children’s/Adults Barred List check.
