The Adoption Support Service is an essential part of the functions of The Children’s Society central Safeguarding and Quality Practice (SQP) team.

The Children’s Society provides a sensitively managed, efficient and legally compliant access to records for adults who were placed for adoption when The Children’s Society operated as the placing agency (Ofsted registered). This includes Schedule 2 birth records counselling, access to information, and access to records. The work also includes responding to any requests for information (s.98 of the Adoption and Children Act, 2002) and access to records from local authorities or other agencies on behalf of adopted adults.

We occasionally call on independent social workers (ISW) to support the work of the team. We are currently inviting expressions of interest to join our existing cohort to become part of a pool of independent Social Workers who can support the Safeguarding and Quality Practice Team in this vital work.
You will be a Social Work England registered Social Worker with significant post qualifying experience. Ideally you will have some experience of working in adoption and post adoption support as either a practitioner or a manager. If not, you will be able to demonstrate transferable skills which make you a suitable candidate to join our pool.

Please send expressions of interest covering no more than two sides of A4 (font size 11), with reference to the job and role description; how your skills and experience make you suitable for the role. Please also include an anonymised CV (of no longer than 4 pages) and send to: recruitment@thechildrenssociety.org.uk

This is a rolling recruitment process and suitable candidates will be invited to interview on a regular basis.

We look forward to hearing from you.
