Kinship Care Assessment (Form K) England: Briefing session

We are pleased to announce the release of the updated Kinship Care Assessment (Form K) for England. The renaming of the form to 'Form K' aligns with the national policy reform agenda and highlights the increasing recognition of the complexity and significance of kinship care when children are unable to stay with their parents. Our presenters are Ann Horne and Clare Seth, our Kinship Care Consultants.

Update on the Independent Review at CoramBAAF Members' Day

Josh MacAlister, the Chair of the Independent Review of Children’s Social Care, gave a keynote speech talking about his experiences so far, the timescales of the review and what the review will be doing during the autumn and winter following the publication of the Case for Change in July.

Undertaking a kinship assessment (two day course)

This course is an opportunity to explore the unique context of kinship care and assessment of prospective kinship carers. Participants will explore professional and personal values and gain knowledge of what constitutes a robust kinship assessment within the legal and regulatory framework. The course will consider different assessment tools that can be used in kinship assessment practice, triangulation of information and effective support planning.

Child health assessments

Child health assessments are a key component in permanence planning for looked after children. Medical Advisers need to be aware of the relevant legislation, statutory guidance and competencies framework. They are required to interpret information and present this in an informative and considered format for social care colleagues, panels and potential carers. This course will consider the Medical Adviser's role in adoption relating to children.
