Learning from Research: Safeguarding in the context of adoption and special guardianship
Join us to hear the latest research on safeguarding in the context of adoption and special guardianship. Supported by the Nuffield Foundation, The Institute of Public Care at Oxford Brookes University and the University of Birmingham, this research has been studying safeguarding in the context of adoption and special guardianship in five local authority areas in England and Wales. The team examined the experiences of children who were subject to statutory safeguarding interventions after adoption or SGO through case file analysis and interviews with families and professionals. Emeritus Professor Keith Moultrie from IPC will share the findings from the study and compare them to those of other recent relevant studies, exploring the implications for social workers.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
- Understand the particular trauma and loss related issues facing this uniquely vulnerable group of children.
- Learn about best practice, how to improve support offered, and reduce breakdowns.
- Insights on real life case studies from other local authorities
