Agency decision making in adoption (children’s decisions)

This open course will explore issues and dilemmas in the Agency Decision Maker (ADM) role and provide a useful basis for self-audit and future decision making. It will be co-facilitated by a legal adviser, giving you the opportunity pose questions for some of the challenges you face as Agency Decision Maker. Please note this session is for those considering Best Interest Decisions for children as part of the care planning process.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

• Describe the role of Agency Adviser in the context of legislation, regulations and guidance 
• Identify the implications of some of the most recent judgements related to Best Interest/Shopfa decisions ,
• Consider the ADM‘s role in the context of care planning and court process. 
• Demonstrate ways to ensure that the basis of the decision making is sound, and decisions are communicated effectively 
• Apply principles of quality assurance to assessments of children and  adopters, panel functions, the CPR and the decision making process.

Agency Decision Makers or those anticipating taking on an agency decision making role considering children’s plans and the ‘best interest decision’ for children.
