Kinship Care Week 2023

  • Date:

This year’s Kinship Care Week, Monday 2 – Friday 6 October 2023, will focus on raising awareness about kinship care. Kinship carers often don’t feel comfortable about being in the spotlight, but there is a need for kinship care to be highlighted. Kinship care has received a greater focus than ever with the publication of the government’s implementation strategy Stable Homes, Built on Love and the planned National Kinship Strategy – a much-welcomed development.

Kinship has recently launched their annual survey and is inviting kinship carers to contribute by sharing their experiences. Their surveys have provided essential evidence and insights to local authorities and governments, shedding light on the experiences of kinship families and identifying necessary changes. By completing their survey, you'll help design and deliver improved services that cater to the needs of kinship carers and their children. Your participation will also support our efforts to advocate for change across all kinship families.

There's still much more we can do to support kinship carers. We often hear examples of good practices from our members, and we'd like to showcase and celebrate those during Kinship Care Week. CoramBAAF, in collaboration with members of the Kinship Care Alliance, is backing Kinship Care Week. More information about our involvement in this year's event will be coming soon – make sure to sign up for our newsletters to stay informed
