
Kinship assessment timescales: impact and practice considerations
Many kinship assessments are completed during public law proceedings, but in some cases courts are requiring unrealistically short timescales for assessments to take place, causing negative impacts on children and families. This Practice Note sets out clear advice on the importance of 12-week timescales, to provide clarity for all those involved in or who have influence over the timetabling of kinship assessments, including judges, solicitors and barristers.
