Briefing: Fostering Draft Quality and Development Standards Consultation
This is an important event for members with lived experience (care experience, foster carers and kinship carers) and those in fostering and kinship care. The Department for Education Fostering Policy team have published Draft Fostering Quality and Development Standards. These replace the National Minimum Standards and the Training, Support and Development Standards. The standards will be finalised and rolled out later this year. They have not been updated for 15 years, this is a once in a generation opportunity to influence, shape, and inspire practice in fostering.
The consultation is open until 16 September, we encourage as many of you as possible to complete individual and organisational consultation responses. For those of you with limited time and those of you curious to hear what the sector is thinking, this event is for you.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
• Condense the standards into bite size chunks
• Bring your attention to the significant changes – what is in and what is out?
• Facilitate discussions with your peers (fostering social workers, kinship social workers, foster carers, health professionals etc.) so you can focus on the essentials that impact you
• Collate common themes and areas from you our members that will feed into our CoramBAAF consultation response
