As part of Social Work England: Social Work Week (20-24 March 2023) - a programme of events from across the sector. The webinar examined how social workers write about children and young people. Care experienced adults report that reading their files can be hugely impactful for them. We discussed how language used when describing a child and their experiences can be interpreted at a later date.

Undertaking an adoption assessment (two day course)

Assessing social workers need to meet the statutory requirements as well as those of adoption panels. Applicants want to know that their "story" is represented fairly and accurately, and at the same time there is a duty to safeguard vulnerable children. This two-day course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to conduct and manage the adoption assessment process so that the best outcomes are achieved for all.

Issues in cases linked to Somerset ruling found to be more widespread

This participatory session will cover some of the practical steps and strategies for social workers that work with children and families. We will also be looking at the national picture. Regional Head of Together4Children Together4Children is an innovative partnership between Shropshire Council, Staffordshire County Council, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Telford & Wrekin Council. We are the Regional Adoption Agency for the four councils. We also provide other services and initiatives that support children’s permanency.

Our ambition is to ensure that children who come into local authority care and are not able to return to their parents, achieve permanence within loving families without unnecessary delay.

This role is employed by Staffordshire County Council with duties across the Together4Children Region.
