About Ambitious for Adoption

Coram Ambitious for Adoption is a Commissioned Voluntary Adoption and Regional Adoption Agency – with statutory adoption support services and family finding located in each relevant partner local authority, and part of the wider adoption services including recruitment and assessment and support located at the Coram Campus in London. Coram is a service with a long track record of serving children well and with outstanding ratings from Ofsted.

Job Description:

Contract: Fixed term until 31st March 2025

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Panel:

  •  Administration of the ‘Panel Diary’ dates by liaising with other Coram RAA personnel as appropriate to ensure that reports are presented at Panel in accordance with timescales.
  •  Act as Coram’s key contact with the Panel chairpersons and other members.
  •  Ensure that Panel membership meets the quorum necessary to conduct business by ensuring that members are available for agreed dates, and substitutes are available in case of sickness absence etc.
  •  Prepare and circulate Panel agendas and PARs and other reports in good time and provide appropriate information to prospective adopters and foster carers who are invited to attend Panel.
  •  Attend and minute Panel meetings, and issue formal minutes and actions afterwards within prescribed timescales.
  •  Coordinate all bookings and meeting arrangements, both in advance and on the day, to ensure the meetings have everything necessary to run smoothly.
  •  Coordinate the issuing of approval letters via the Agency Decision Maker after Panel working with the Panel Advisor to ensure all decisions are made within 7 working days.
  • Liaise with colleagues in partnership LA’s to arrange the signing of matching letters by the appropriate Agency Decision Maker.
  •  Make appropriate arrangements in conjunction with the Panel Advisor for training for Panel Members.
  •  Provide reports as necessary in support of the Panel process in conjunction with the Panel Advisor.
  •  Ensure that all accurate data about the work of the Panel is provided as required for example by the ADM, the Panel Advisor or Coram Trustees.
  •  Share in the overall administrative support to the team by taking responsibility for specific areas of work as directed, including travel arrangements and monthly credit card returns.

General:

  •  Take responsibility for and be committed to personal and professional development and keep up to date with law, regulation, guidance, standards, Government policy and research relating to all aspects of the work.
  •  Safeguard and protect vulnerable adults and children in accordance with Coram’s Policies and Procedures at all times.
  •  Demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities.
  •  Take responsibility for own health and safety and the health and safety of others.
  •  Undertake any other duties as required.
