Main responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the performance of the designated team, including work allocation and review, supervision, case recording, target setting and appraisal.
2. Deputise for other Managers and peers in any other team when reasonably requested to do so.
3. Manage the staff group to deliver services to children and families within a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with North Lincolnshire policies.
4. Recruit, maintain and deploy a competent staff team through effective supervision, staff development and training, in accordance with North Lincolnshire policies.
5. Be the named responsible individual as required, accountable for the regulatory requirements of the specific service within national standards. This includes deputising for the Adoption Professional Advisor (also known as Panel Advisor) as and when required.
6. Manage, maintain and lead on the delivery of safe and effective commissioning of therapeutic support for children and families (adoptive and special guardianship). This includes contractual arrangements, oversight of the compliance, quality and delivery of commissioned arrangements, financial negotiation and management and ongoing monitoring of provision.
7. Provide information, reports and analysis to senior managers within the Council and partners in relation to service provision.
8. Provide professional support, advice and guidance to workers relating to adoption practice and special guardianship practice.
9. Ensure that the managed team produces quality work, compliant with council guidelines and procedures and with national standards and requirements.
10. Chair meetings, make court appearances and represent the service at meetings, panels and forums where appropriate.
11. Maintain electronic records to a high standard to ensure that activity on individual cases and overall levels of activity can be monitored, ensuring that records demonstrate appropriate management oversight.
12. Monitor and quality assure team and individual performance and take action to improve performance where required.
13. Monitor, analyse and interpret relevant data, performance and activity information to ensure compliance, high quality practice and improvement - including national, inspection and local indicators and practice standards.
14. Provide high quality management information as required, including analysis of the information.
15. Assist Lead Officers to carry out the council's policies relating to children and families, including deputising for the Lead Officer for Adoption, Special Guardianship and Holding On when appropriate.
16. Manage and take responsibility for the delegated budgets and resources with due regard to economy, efficiency and effectiveness in line with organisational policy and delegations.
18. Liaise with colleagues in other service areas and agencies to ensure effective working relationships and co-ordinated work.
19. Undertake ‘on call’ decision making duties as and when required, for which appropriate supplements will be paid.
