Recommendations for best practice in respect of adoption
Adoption is today - and always will be - for the few and not the many, and this important report sets out considered recommendations to help ensure that best practice is the only practice, and reflecting the evolution of support needs, particularly understanding identity, for children as they grow and develop.
We support the call for better collaboration between children's services and the judicial system, for delivering the resources needed and ensuring professionals are supported to achieve this.
Adoption has a vital part to play in securing the best possible outcomes for some of the most vulnerable children in society - children for whom adoption placement orders have been granted have had the toughest start in life. We must use this report to ensure that decisions are always made with within the child’s timescale, with their best interests as the over-riding priority for all the adults involved.
CoramBAAF will publish chapter summaries and analysis for the report in the coming days.
