Kinship launch their #ValueOurLove campaign

  • Date:

Kinship recently launched their #ValueOurLove campaign which called for a kinship care strategy and better support for carers and children in kinship families. On Wednesday 19 October, Ann Horne, our Kinship Consultant went to the Houses of Parliament for the campaign launch. The event was sponsored by Munira Wilson MP and was attended by a cross party selection of MP’s, professionals supporting kinship families and of course kinship carers themselves. Some shared powerful stories in person, and Kinship also played a recording of a very moving poem. The campaign aims to raise awareness amongst MPs of the need for better support for kinship carers.

Watch and listen to the poem here:

CoramBAAF welcomes and supports the campaign. Kinship have also just published the The Cost of Loving: Annual survey of kinship carers 2022 which illustrates the significant challenges facing kinship families today. So much still needs to change for kinship families, and CoramBAAF continues to work across the sector to make positive changes for Kinship families. Members can join us at our next Kinship Care Practice Forum on 2 November to hear Sam Turner from Kinship talk about the campaign and the Cost of Loving Survey.
