CoramBAAF Annual Health Conference: 2024 hot topics and a step into the past

Monday 24 June 2024, in-person at Coram Campus, (QEII Conference Centre) in London, from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Our Annual Health Conference provides an opportunity for health professionals who work with care experienced children and young people to come together to discuss current issues and share practice. We also welcome any health professionals providing services and assessments to this group of children for example paediatricians, GPs, therapists, Health Visitors and School Nurses.

THEME

Join us for an engaging event centred around staying informed and connected. At our conference, you'll have the opportunity to stay up to date on critical topics, share your perspectives, and be a part of the conversation. 

With a special emphasis on the health and well-being needs of younger children, our event promises valuable insights and discussions. Don't miss out – mark your calendars and be ready to participate!

PROGRAMME 

Morning sessions will include presentations and blitz presentations that explore: 

  • challenges in child health 
  • developments in genomics  
  • fetal alcohol spectrum disorders research 
  • oral health 
  • mental health and well-being 

Afternoon workshops will include: 

  • smaller group discussions to learn and reflect together 
  • attendees will contribute to the consultation on Statutory Guidance for Promoting the Health and Wellbeing of Looked after Children (England) 
  • we will also explore a UK-wide project looking at core standards for initial health assessments 
  • workshops on substance misuse in pregnancy and the impact on the child

WHO SHOULD ATTEND 

The Annual Health Conference is an engaging and enjoyable learning event for Medical Advisers in adoption and fostering, designated, named and specialist doctors, and nurses for children in care. We also welcome any health professionals providing services and assessments to this group of children for example paediatricians, GPs, therapists, Health Visitors and School Nurses. 

Our programme will allow plenty of opportunities for networking with attendees, speakers, and the CoramBAAF team.

Last year, attendees expressed an interest in visiting The Foundling Museum; which is located near to our QEII conference centre. The Foundling Hospital was established in 1739 to care for babies at risk of abandonment. We are pleased to announce we will be hosting our afternoon workshops at the museum this year. Attendees will be able to explore the history, exhibition and gallery during the afternoon break.
