CoramBAAF Webinar

Wellbeing for Professionals: Using Objects work for reflective team meetings

FREE EVENT FOR MEMBERS ONLY

With our monthly ‘Wellbeing for professionals’ sessions we would like to offer a place for our members to reflect on and boost their personal wellbeing. They will take place on the first Wednesday of every month, from 12pm to 1pm.

This month's session will be on the subject: Using Objects work for reflective team meetings.

CoramBAAF and Coram-i recently ran a 6-session pilot training course on 'Objects and Their Stories' for foster carers and social care professionals. This course was based on Prof Mark Doel's Social Work in 40 Stories and explored how having discussions about the objects can help adults, children and young people to make sense of their experiences, explore identity and feel safe enough to think about potentially difficult subjects.

Feedback from training participants was that Objects discussions helped them to develop trusting working relationships with each other much quicker than expected and that these conversations highlighted how many experiences we all have in common: "I have learned so much about myself".

This Wellbeing session will offer you the opportunity to explore this practice yourself, in a safe environment. After the session, you may feel inspired to try Objects work in your next team meeting or team development day, or as a reflective supervision activity.

Please bring an object which has a particular significance to you and which you would be happy to talk about in a small group to the session. Examples of objects might be a childhood toy, a favourite item of clothing or jewellery, a photograph or an ornament with a story attached.

This session is free to all members.

For social workers, reflection on this session may contribute to your continuing professional development (CPD).
