Learning from Research: In their own words - care experienced young people on local and national policy
The National Leaving Care Benchmarking Forum & Young People’s Benchmarking Forum consists of over 130 local authority leaving care teams, working together to share good practice & improve services & support for care experienced young people. At the heart of the National Leaving Care Benchmarking Forum (NLCBF), the aim is to ensure that the voices of care experienced young people are heard loud and clear, as well as to help shape the decisions and priorities of the forum. We want our forum to grow, and so we encourage all NLCBF local authority members to get as many of their young people involved with Young People’s Benchmarking Forum (YPBMF) as possible.
Over 2024, care experienced individuals involved with YPBMF decided on some key areas effecting care experienced individuals that needed to improve and required senior decision & policy makers to be involved with helping to make the change. YPBMF selected 5 areas, designed a survey, and circulated it to care experienced individuals across the UK. They received over 200 responses which have been analysed and turned into reports and workshops. This session shares the highlights from the 5 co-produced reports with key local and national asks for those involved with improving the lives of care experienced individuals.
