Legal Adviser The Independent Review Mechanism for England (IRM) provides, on behalf of the Secretary of State for Education, review panels for potential and current foster carers and adopters when agencies have decided not to approve them as a foster carer or adopter, or to terminate or change the terms of their approval. The current contract will continue until March 2026. As an IRM Legal Adviser the postholder will be providing written legal advice to caseworkers, panel members and the Contract Manager about individual applications and well as ad hoc advice on occasions, working 30 hours a week (this can be discussed at the contract stage). Independent Review Mechanism £47,142.86 per annum (£55,000 FTE) Homebased 30 hours per week

In 2026 it will be 100 years since the Adoption of Children Act 1926 was first introduced. Although the legislation still stands, there have been numerous changes during this period. ‘Adoption & Fostering’ is inviting contributions for a Special Issue to reflect on adoption in England and Wales.

Adoption and Fostering Panel Vice Chair The post holder will be able to demonstrate expertise and up to date knowledge of the legislative framework for Adoption and Fostering and bring a comprehensive understanding of current legislation in Fostering and know the Fostering and National Minimum Standards, and relevant up to date national qualitative research. The post holder will have relevant experience of Adoption and Fostering Panels, have been a Panel Member, Vice or Chair of Fostering Panels who is competent or brings the relevant lived experience of Fostering. The post holder should demonstrate empathy and evidence and ability to ensure Panels functions smoothly and within an equality and anti-discriminatory practice framework.

Your payment will be: - £250 for attendance as Vice Panel member - £375 for Chairing Panels as Vice Chair - £90 for Training Days and Panel Business Days United Kingdom 1631 There are two panels held per month on the first and third Friday of the month. Panel runs from 9am-4pm.
