CPD

We can help with your CPD submission

  • Date:

Continuing professional development (CPD) is vital for reflection and learning. CPD helps you to maintain and enhance your practice throughout your social work career.

You are required to log at least two separate pieces of CPD each registration year. Recording CPD is essential for renewing your registration annually, and you can do so anytime up until the 30 November deadline.

At least one CPD entry must include a peer reflection, noting what you’ve learned from discussing your CPD activity with a colleague. However, not all CPD entries need to include a peer reflection.

How we can help

Accessing and using  CoramBAAF membership benefits, resources, and materials can support your CPD in social work. Engaging with our books and journal articles, attending our free events (or watching the recordings), completing a training course, or listening to a podcast can all contribute towards your CPD.

Publications

Our publications are perfect resources to help you fulfil your CPD. Although some social workers believe only training counts towards CPD, in fact reading about social work practice and discussing it with colleagues is also completely valid. And of course, our books and resources are available 24/7. Get your copy as a paperback from our online bookshop, or as an eBook from our eBookstore!

Our authoritative books cover a wide range of subjects, from core resources for newly qualified workers, to cutting edge practice developments or in-depth research for more experienced workers. Written by those with years of experience in the field, they provide comprehensive and trusted advice and good practice.

Explore our curated social worker catalogue – and don’t forget our handy fostering and adoption starter packs, providing key titles at a bargain price. We also have a range of free book chapters on our website, along with short audio interviews with expert authors – why not read or listen to one of these and discuss during a team meeting, to start fulfilling your CPD now?

Training

In our training and events team, we are dedicated to helping you complete your CPD. We listen to your training needs and then curate a programme for you. Our certificates give you the opportunity to log your reflection from your learning after a course. Our webinar series (Exploring Expertise and Learning from Research) are free for our members to attend, with free and exclusive member access to the webinar recordings. These short events are designed to give you access to leading voices in the sector, the latest research findings and opportunities to share experiences.

CoramBAAF training and events are a great CPD opportunity in your busy day. Take a look through our programme, and contact our team if there are topics you would like us to include in our schedule. We look forward to seeing you soon!

CoramBAAF Conversations

Our podcast series, CoramBAAF Conversations, explores a wide range of topics related to adoption, fostering, and kinship care. Featuring insights from children's social care professionals, experts by experience, researchers, writers, and academics, the series shares best practice, innovations, and knowledge. Listening to our podcast episodes can contribute to your social work CPD by keeping you informed and engaged with current issues and developments in the field.

CoramBAAF is committed to supporting your continuing professional development throughout your social work career. With a wide range of resources, we offer flexible and accessible ways to meet your CPD requirements.

Whether you're looking to deepen your knowledge, stay updated on the latest best practice, or engage in peer reflections, our materials can help you fulfil your CPD requirements  and enhance your practice.
