Social Work Week: Social Work England, renewals and continuing professional development

Continuing professional development is the heart of our growth as social workers and while we are always learning on-the-job, there is a need to provide evidence and reflection on our learning to Social Work England to maintain our Social Work registration. This session will discuss the importance of social work continuing professional development, what is required by Social Work England and during the session, we will share some examples of continuing professional development and peer reflection to meet the requirements. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and to learn and reflect together.

Vicky Hart is Regional Engagement Lead (London) at Social Work England and a registered Social Worker for over 20 years. She has practised in adult services including specialist older adult mental health teams, been a CQC inspector of mental health services and was an advanced practitioner in Forensic Mental Health before moving to Social Work England where she has been working since 2021. She has published chapters in text books relating to social supervision, use of research in social work practice, and anti-racist practice in social work.

The session is aimed at foster carers, adopters, children’s services, social workers, supervising social workers, managers and anyone interested in better understanding the process of renewals, peer reflection and continuing professional development (CPD).

For social workers, reflection on this session may contribute to your continuing professional development (CPD).
