CoramBAAF welcomes the Education Committee’s report on children’s social care, which highlights urgent issues such as a shortage of foster carers, inadequate mental health support, and poor outcomes for care leavers. The report makes key recommendations to improve the system, and calls for strong Government action to better support vulnerable children and families.

Team Manager - Adoption
Team Manager - Adoption This is a great opportunity for a high calibre Social Worker to take their first step into management, or for an existing Team Manager with relevant experience in children's social work to join Adoption Southeast (ASE), the regional adoption agency for the Surrey, West Sussex, East Sussex and Brighton area. The post-holder will need to demonstrate commitment to securing permanence for looked after children through adoption, capacity for contributing to ongoing service development and ability to collaborate with local authority and regional adoption agency colleagues. The post-holder will need to be a a confident casework supervisor who is able to provide robust management oversight of the prospective adopter journey and assessments of adoption support needs (for families who have adopted their children).

Fostering Panel Members
Fostering Panel Members The postholder will read the circulated papers carefully before the meeting and to attend the meeting prepared to raise issues and to contribute to the panel discussion. The postholder will take responsibility for participating in the making of a recommendation, on each case, drawing on both personal and professional knowledge and experience. The postholder will attend at least 75 per cent of the Panel Meetings and to be prepared to attend additional Panels, if possible, if requested. The postholder will participate, with other Panel Members, in advising on policy and procedural matters as required. James Bury, CoramBAAF’s Head of Policy, Research and Development, shares reflections on a key report that has been launched this week. ‘Increasing access to evidence-informed mental health service provision for children in care in England – National recommendations for change’ was authored by Professor Rachel Hiller alongside key academic authors and contributors and has been supported by CoramBAAF, UCL and UK Trauma Council.
