CoramBAAF welcomes the launch today of the long awaited kinship allowance pilot in seven local authorities

News and updates-

CoramBAAF welcomes the launch today of the long awaited kinship allowance pilot in seven local authorities. Backed by £126 million, the kinship allowance will reach around 5,000 children, and we therefore welcome this investment in kinship families knowing the financial challenges many face. Kinship carers in the seven local authorities will receive an allowance equivalent to what foster carers receive. Each local authority will receive a package of funding and support, enabling local authorities to tailor delivery to local needs.

New platform to give care-experienced and adopted people better access to their records

News and updates-

CoramBAAF and the Archives and Records Association (ARA) are today, Monday 9 March, announcing a partnership to make it easier for adopted and care-experienced people to find and access records relating to their adoption and time in care. The initiative will develop a free, easy to navigate online resource, to be launched later in 2026. The platform will detail the location of adoption and care records in the UK and signpost to organisations who can support those wishing to access their records.

Adoption Support Worker
Adoption Support Worker Our adult adoption support service works primarily with adopted adults and birth families. Adopted adults can access their records and receive an intermediary service and be supported through a reunion. Birth families are supported at the time of losing children to adoption, helped to stay in touch through letterbox and can potentially also have an intermediary service towards reunion. We are looking for a Social Worker or Counsellor, who has experience of working directly with those affected by adoption. The postholder will have experience and knowledge of adoption law and practice and able to liaise with partner agencies to deliver the service in North and West Yorkshire.
