Head of Legal Aid and Billing The Head of Legal Aid and Billing will provide leadership and management for CCLC particularly focused on the Legal Practice Unit’s legal aid billing operations. Through systematic and efficient management, the post-holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial and operational sustainability. The role will be accountable for maximising the unit’s legal aid billing in controlled work, certificated work and inter partes costs and will hold responsibility for the unit’s billing systems. It will also be responsible for private fees billing. The post-holder will oversee the smooth running of legal aid billing including through line management of the billing team. Senior Billing Officer and Coordinator The Senior Billing Officer will coordinate, oversee and supervise the Legal Practice Unit’s legal aid billing operations. IRM Legal Advisor (Casual) As an IRM Legal Adviser the postholder will providing written legal advice to caseworkers, panel members and the Contract Manager about individual applications and well as ad hoc advice on occasions. Legal Advisers provide on average 2 pieces of advice weekly and are paid at an hourly rate claimed each month. Legal Advisers also need to be available by phone for advice, should it be required, for the IRM panel meetings which are held on various days each week of the month according to the demands of the service.
