In this blog, our Fostering Consultant, Emma Fincham reflects on our inaugural fostering conference. A day that brought together over 115 professionals working in fostering services across local authorities, and agencies, to discuss the upcoming fostering reforms.
CoramBAAF and the Archives and Records Association (ARA) are today, Monday 9 March, announcing a partnership to make it easier for adopted and care-experienced people to find and access records relating to their adoption and time in care. The initiative will develop a free, easy to navigate online resource, to be launched later in 2026. The platform will detail the location of adoption and care records in the UK and signpost to organisations who can support those wishing to access their records.
Adoption Support Worker
Our adult adoption support service works primarily with adopted adults and birth families. Adopted adults can access their records and receive an intermediary service and be supported through a reunion. Birth families are supported at the time of losing children to adoption, helped to stay in touch through letterbox and can potentially also have an intermediary service towards reunion. We are looking for a Social Worker or Counsellor, who has experience of working directly with those affected by adoption. The postholder will have experience and knowledge of adoption law and practice and able to liaise with partner agencies to deliver the service in North and West Yorkshire.

Since the Fostering reforms announcement on 3 February, we have been listening to our members and using your feedback to inform our consultation response. We have engaged with over 1,300 professionals at the forefront of fostering services; professionals who will be delivering these reforms every day in their work with vulnerable children and families. Today, we sent a joint letter to the Minister for Children and Families to raise concerns about the proposed removal of panels for approval of foster carers clear.
