Reflecting on Foster Care Fortnight

As Foster Care Fortnight draws to a close, we want to thank foster carers for the enormous role they have in providing stable, loving homes for children across the country. In this blog, we recap some of the resources and activities shared during over the last two weeks.

Social Work Assistant
Social Work Assistant The Social Work Assistant will facilitate exchanges of information (letterbox and virtual communication) for the child between their birth family and their adopted family to enable the child to feel accepted within their new family whilst enabling him/her to feel comfortable in acknowledging their identity and giving them reassurances about their birth family. The postholder will assist with finances and the paying and tracking of invoices and other payments associated with the adoption team. The postholder will work as part of the wider Adoption administration team to support the smooth and efficient day to day running of the Adoption office (Hillingdon). Coram Adoption - Hillingdon £21,496.43 per annum (FTE £30,095.00) London Borough of Hillingdon, with flexibility for home working 25 Hours per week
Children’s Group Workers
Children’s Group Workers Coram is looking for enthusiastic and confident Creche Workers and Lead Workers to support our Saturday therapeutic parenting groups. The children’s group runs at the same time as the parents’ sessions; offering a safe, nurturing space for children aged 3 to 8. The postholder will be part of a small experienced team providing consistent care and play based activities for a group of 8 to 10 children. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, values routine and continuity, and are confident supporting a mixed age group. Independent Social Work Assessor Barnardo’s wish to recruit Independent Social Workers to help with our adoption work in the East & West Midlands, Birmingham, Thames Valley, Bristol, Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset areas. We are looking for qualified and experienced Social Workers who have experience of carrying out adoption assessments. The role will include initial visits to prospective adopters, completing full adoption assessments and writing AARs (Adoption Assessment Reports), reporting to Panel, and occasional additional work to support our families, such as attending reviews or matching panels. Adoption Support Education Advisor
Adoption Support Education Advisor We are looking for an Adoption Support Education Advisor to join our Reading team.

Our Adoption Support Education Advisor will work in PACT’s adoption support service and support our Lead Specialist Education Worker in the implementation and development of our Early Education Pathways pilot project for a fixed term period to March 2028. The postholder will foster positive and effective relationships between schools, educational and other professionals and adoptive families. The postholder will contribute to meeting the objectives of the pilot project, maintaining delivery momentum, data quality and consistency to ensure the project’s success.
